We hope you’re feeling all the love this week, LibraryCall friends!

As we move into the third week of February, we continue to highlight important Black Americans and their stories. This week we’re featuring the story of renowned scientist and astronaut Mae Jemison who became the first African American woman to travel to space in 1992.

Two Tips to Increase Dial-A-Story Visibility

Submitted by madeline on Fri, 06/10/2022 - 12:18 PM PDT
Dial-A-Story is intended to help libraries reach as many families as possible, but we know it can be challenging to get the word out about the service.

Two Simple Tips to Increase Your Dial-A-Story Visibility

1. Include your Dial-A-Story phone number on your library website's phone/contact list. This is a super simple way to elevate and provide more visibility to your service. You can see here that Hopi Library has their Dial-A-Story number listed right alongside their main library phone number. As my son would say, "Easy peasy lemon squeezy."

New summer story alert!

We have a new story to share with you, just in time for Summer Reading.

In A Camping Trip: From City to Nature by Lauren Kratz Prushko, three friends from the city go camping for the first time. Together they learn to pitch a tent, hike in the wood, and make s'mores under the stars. This title may be of particular interest to libraries using iRead’s Read Beyond the Beaten Path theme.

Story Sheets

To support your efforts connecting families with stories and information, we offer our members Story Sheets– read-along printables– on demand!

On the road with LibraryCall and Bessie Stringfield

Submitted by madeline on Wed, 04/27/2022 - 04:00 PM PDT

LibraryCall is on the road again! This week, two of our team members are down south at the Texas Library Association conference in Fort Worth. Amanda Jacobs Foust, our Outreach and Accounts Manager reports, “It’s been a pleasure to be first time exhibitors at TLA. We’ve enjoyed talking and connecting with such a wide range of library staff - especially so many school libraries! Plus we get to enjoy lots of Texas tacos and BBQ in beautiful Fort Worth while we work!”
