The App Has Retired

What does the retirement mean for my family?
We’ve made the hard decision to retire the Whole World Kids! app. It’s no longer available to download, and we’re not adding new stories. But we promised “no take-backs,” and we meant it: if your family already has the app, all 80 stories are now unlocked for you, in English and Spanish, at no cost. That includes every story that used to unlock month by month.
Do I need to do anything to get all the stories?
No. Everything unlocked automatically. If your library still looks small, close the app completely and reopen it while connected to the internet.
Will I be charged again?
No. We’ve stopped all subscriptions in the App Store and Google Play, so nothing will renew. If you subscribed recently, your subscription may still show as active until its end date. It won’t renew after that.
Will the app keep working?
Yes. Your account still works, so sign in the same way you always have. Stories download to your device and play offline, just like before.
Can I still download the app?
Only if you’ve downloaded it before. See Reinstalling and New Devices below. The app isn’t available to families who haven’t downloaded it before.

Reinstalling and New Devices

I deleted the app. Can I get it back?
Yes, if you’ve downloaded it before.
  • iPhone or iPad: You should be able to reinstall it from the App Store. Tap your profile picture, then Purchased. Search for Whole World Kids and tap the download icon. If it isn’t there, email us at team@wholeworldkids.com and we’ll help.
  • Android: In the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Manage apps & device, then Manage. Filter by Not installed, find Whole World Kids, and tap Install.
Can I set up the app on a new phone or tablet?
Yes, if the new device uses the same Apple or Google account that downloaded the app. Follow the steps above, then sign in with your Whole World Kids! email and password.
Can I use the app on more than one device?
Yes. There’s no limit to the number of devices, as long as you sign in with your Whole World Kids! account. Because the app is no longer available to download, it can only be installed on devices using an Apple or Google account that downloaded it before.

General Questions

What is Whole World Kids!?
Whole World Kids! is an audiobook app specifically designed for children ages 3-10 to spark their imaginations and boost their language development and early literacy skills. The app has now retired, but since our mission is to make sure every child gets to experience the magic and wonder of storytelling, the app and stories remain on your device - no stories will disappear or require renewal.
Is the app meant for parents or kids to use?
Whole World Kids! is designed for young kids to use. They can browse stories, select and play stories and mark their Favorites. The app settings are password protected so young users cannot access anything but the stories.

About the Stories

What types of stories are available in the app?
The app includes 80 engaging stories for children ages 3-10, and every one is now unlocked. Explore categories like animal tales, thrilling adventures, fantasy worlds, whimsical stories, and diverse narratives that celebrate the world around us. Stories are offered in English and Spanish.
Why are there both English and Spanish stories?
Exposure to a second language at a young age helps children learn that language later in life. When they hear the words and sounds of another language early, it builds their ability to recognize and imitate those sounds. We also know that some kids will be native Spanish speakers learning English, and others will be native English speakers learning Spanish. That’s why we love the idea of offering stories that are not only fun and easy to listen to but also help them get better at speaking their second language.
Where do the stories come from?
Our amazing team of authors, content developers, translators and narrators worked together to create our wonderful collection, which was carefully curated by our own librarians. You can rest assured that every story was crafted by real people, not AI! Read our No-AI Guarantee.
Can stories be played offline?
Yes, all stories are downloaded to your device so they can be played offline. There is no need to use mobile data to play stories or mark Favorites.

Story Controls

How easy is the app to use?
The app offers easy navigation and simple story controls for kids. Users (kids) can tap category icons to select a story category, tap story covers to choose a story, and tap the play button to start listening. Kids can browse stories by swiping left or right on the covers in each category. For those who may find swiping challenging, all stories can also be accessed with taps to take kids back to the story category screen and the home page.
Can favorite stories be highlighted?
While listening to a story, kids or guardians can tap a thumbs-up symbol to mark it as a Favorite. When tapped, the thumbs-up turns red to indicate it is now a Favorite. Favorited stories also appear in the Favorites category (in addition to their original story category). To remove a story from Favorites, simply tap the red thumbs-up again.
What if I don’t want my child to have access to a story?
To delete a story, go to Settings in the app and select My Account. Be careful—once a story is deleted, it’s gone for good and cannot be restored.

Subscriptions and Billing

What happened to the Basic, Premium, and Lifetime plans?
All plans have ended. Every family with the app now has all 80 stories at no cost, whichever plan they were on. We’ve stopped all subscriptions in the App Store and Google Play, so nothing will renew.
What happens to my story collection?
