Anita Gail Jones is an author, professional storyteller, visual artist, and best of all (in our opinion) a LibraryCall contributor. Born and raised in Albany, Georgia, Anita maintains a strong connection with southwest Georgia, though she currently calls Northern California home. LibraryCall's Storytime Commons features Anita's wonderful storytelling in Airplanes, Trains, and Billy Goats, a true story about her grandfather's childhood on a farm in rural Georgia, getting into mischief and overcoming fears.
Anita’s debut novel, The Peach Seed, will be released by Henry Holt & Company on August 1, 2023. The book is already generating serious buzz in the book world.

A novel of legacy and long-lost love, author Anita Gail Jones’ The Peach Seed flows between 1800s Senegal and modern-day America to tell the story of the Dukes family, and the carved peach seed monkeys that each generation of Dukes men has passed onto their sons. When Fletcher Dukes gifts one to the love of his life, he breaks decades of tradition, but he loses her—at least temporarily—when a peaceful protest grows violent. The Peach Seed is set to be an epic, enchanting debut.
