Humpty Dumpty

In this silly story, Humpty Dumpty isn't just egg-like... he's an actual egg! Nestled with his 11 companions in a carton at a supermarket, Humpty Dumpty is filled with anxiety over what will happen when they're inevitably purchased and taken home by someone. The thought of his shell cracking makes him feel scrambled inside! This story is superficially about overcoming your fears, but on a deeper level, it is complete nonsense.

The Other Little Red Hen

In this playful reimagining of the traditional fable "The Little Red Hen", a hen discovers just how fragile the bonds of her community can be, and how rapidly her support network can disappear when people become too selfish. Though it doesn't exactly contradict the moral of the original tale -- that lazy people should not expect handouts -- this story's moral is a bit more nuanced: the handouts we ourselves receive are sometimes invisible to us... until they disappear.

Only an Oni

Haruo is taking out the trash when he discovers that an Oni -- a creature of Japanese legends -- has made a mess in his driveway. Haruo and his dad decide to take the creature back to its home in the mountains, and they meet some other magical creatures along the way.

Caleb Stays Up Late

In this cozy bedtime story, young Caleb resents having to go to bed earlier than everyone else, and suspects that they're all doing fun things without him. He stays up late, expecting to catch them in the act as they are having cake, dancing, and playing with his toys, only to discover that the life of a grownup is not nearly as exciting as he imagined it to be.
