If you need some fall or Halloween-inspired stories to round out your Dial-A-Story service this month, here are some titles to check out in the Storytime Commons (log-in required to open story links):
Spooky Stories
- The Evil Mouse: a rodent claiming to be a fairy orders a girl to do mischievous things.
- A Spooky Irish Story: an Irish woman is visited by horned witches.
Witches and Bats
- The Witch-- a new Halloween story about a misunderstood witch by LibraryCall’s Anna Suarez.
- Katie the Witch, a series of stories about a young English witch produced by Storynory: Katie and the Cat Who Talked, Katie and the Invisible Umbrella, and The Witch Who Got into Trouble at School
- Lots of the classic fairytales available in the Commons feature witches, including Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel (Rapunzel in Spanish), The Little Mermaid (La Sirenita), and Snow White (Blancanieves).
- The Bat and the Weasel and El murciélago y los coatíes (The Bat and the Coatis): a bat uses quick thinking to escape a hungry predator.
Fall
- The Little Apple Tree: a young tree worries that her fruit won't ripen in time for the fall harvest. (We will have this title available in Spanish by October 18.)
- The Story of the Yellow Flowers: unwanted weeds become beautiful in autumn.
We’re adding new stories every week. Please send us requests and suggestions if there's anything you'd like to see included!
We have another Storytime Commons Chat coming up on Wednesday, October 27 at 9:00 Eastern/12:00 Pacific. Join me to exchange ideas, discuss best practices, share your feedback, and ask questions. Register for free: https://librarycall.com/event/storytime-commons-chat/wed-10272021-1200-pm-pdt
